Childbirth Education
Childbirth education is an essential part of preparing for the birth of your baby.
Private classes for first-time parents generally last 4-6 hours and the cost ranges from $100-$150. Families looking for a refresher childbirth education class might find 2-3 hours is enough time to review and practice ways to support labor and childbirth. For families living outside the Bloomington area, please contact me to learn more about my travel fees. Because these classes are tailored to your specific needs, classes include a great deal of conversation concerning your needs, fears, anticipations and preferences. Private classes take place at your home, unless other plans are made. Classes may be spread out over 2-3 shorter sessions or 1 longer session, depending on availability and preference.
Payments are collected at time of class.

Labor Support Consultation
In addition to private consultations for the expectant family, I also offer consultations for friends or family planning to support a laboring woman. These consultations are perfect for approaching labor support from an evidence-based perspective, rather than only relying on one's own birthing experience or what one has read in books. During these consultations, we will cover what you may expect in providing labor support. We will cover the stages of labor and what support may be helpful, depending on the laboring woman's needs. We will also review comfort measures, medical interventions and information about birthing at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Labor Support Consultation is offered as a 2-hour meeting, and the fee is $50. Included in this fee are materials the labor support may use in preparing to support the laboring woman.
