In-Person Groups during Pregnancy & Parenthood
Childbirth Preparation at The Cocuun
Saturday, 9-3pm July 1, September 30, November 11
Join me for childbirth education that combines online resources with in-person conversations, exercises and hands-on practice. Tapping into what you already know about yourself and how you work through challenges, we'll talk through the stages of labor and possible scenarios including induction of labor, coping with the sensations in labor, cesarean birth and vaginal birth. Registrants are encouraged to register for both the 1-day class and Coping in Labor, where you will have more time to focus on the strategies that many find helpful as they cope in labor. Registration can be found here. Class size is limited to 6 pairs $175/pair.
Coping in Labor Workshop at The Cocuun
Sunday, 1-3pm July 2, October 1, November 12
Join Amy Beck, certified doula & childbirth educator, in this prenatal workshop. Class will begin with an overview of the benefits of movement and position changes in labor (shorter dilating stage, lower pain scores, higher satisfaction, less likely to request an epidural, less likely to have a cesarean). Then we will discuss how to increase your feelings of comfort through the use of various relaxation techniques. We'll finish class with a relaxation exercise. Class registrants will have access to online resources to round out your birth preparation. Registration can be found here. Class is limited to 6 pairs. $60/pair
Mothers' Circle
Monday, 7-9pm June 12
Join Amy Beck and others from our community for a monthly Mothers' Circle. Gather with others as we have time to focus on the month's topic for the first 90 minutes, followed by time to visit with one another after. A light snack, tea & bubbly water is served. Register here $20/Circle.
June's Mother's Circle: Join Alissa and Amy to discuss the role of food within the context of family. Topics will be selected based on participant interest but could include exploring our own relationships with food, how to encourage curiosity and exploration, intuitive eating, as well as developing a positive relationship with food. More specifically, let's dig into our childhood experiences with food: the messages we received, habits we formed, stories we were told, and the impact. As we think about raising our own children, what parts do we want to keep, what do we want to change and reimagine, and how do we do it?
Alissa is the Education Coordinator for Mother Hubbard's Cupboard, a social justice non-profit and food resource center in Bloomington, IN. They are also on the Board of Tandem Community Birth Center and pursuing their Master's in Public Health with a focus on family and communities.
Weekly Mothers' Circle
